Bill and his wife Sherry, with the help of their friends, are organizing the fifth annual ‘Smiles for Seniors at Christmas’ gift drive to support even more long-term care facilities than ever before.
In recent years, they’ve collected over 450 gifts for seniors with the help of many charitable people in St Thomas and surrounding areas. “The need is huge,” emphasizes Bill Marlett. “Due to the pandemic, seniors haven’t been able to have visitors or normal activities that help them socialize.”
Gifts can be modest— anything from books and puzzles to journals to art supplies. It’s the gesture that is truly an act of kindness.
If you would like to put a smile on a senior’s face, please drop off a small unwrapped gift in the donation box at Yurek Pharmacy, 5.1.9. Talbot Street, or Yurek Mobility, 31 Laing Blvd. in St. Thomas. Also, look out for other locations that accept gifts for Smiles for Seniors at Christmas!
Let’s all pull together to help put a smile on a senior’s face!
